KDI Drywall has been busy at the house taping and mudding all the walls. It’s an important part of the job! Anyone who has tried to do their own mudding knows how difficult it can be. Dan once tried to do some drywall mudding and ended up scraping off just as much as he put on, over and over again. This is one job we are happy to leave to the professionals, and know that the company we hired will get the job done right.
The corners have also started to go up! We went with a unique product from Trim-Tex (supplied through KDI Drywall) that is both rounded and squared. What I like about it is that it provides clear definition if you want to switch a wall colour around a corner (whereas with rounded corners, that can be difficult) and it’s something a bit different from what you see in a typical new house.
Once all the drywall has been sanded and perfected, the first coat of primer will go on. KDI Drywall will be using a grey primer (instead of white) so that the paint colours we chose (mostly grey based) will have better coverage. The paint store made a primer that was tinted with our lightest colour and half white. The end result is a nice subtle blue-grey that is really starting to grow on me and making me second guess myself about the main floor colour, which is more ‘greige’ (grey-beige).
Notice something else? LIGHTS! DC-10 Systems started to install the potlights throughout the house. You can also see my paint sample on the right, on top of the nice blue-grey primer. It’s starting to look so good!
Paint colours we are using:
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter
Benjamin Moore Wickham grey
Benjamin Moore Simply White
Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
Benjamin Moore Pink Bliss
+ a few accent colours I’m thinking of adding to the mix. TBD.
