Second Floor – Final Decision. Finally.

     May 9, 2014 0 Comments

We took 5 seconds to decide which option we liked best (we reviewed our options in the post yesterday).

Drum roll please…..

second floor decision

We chose Option B for one reason, really. A house that is 2000 sq ft deserves a large master bedroom. We felt that 12×12 was too small, and that 17×11 would suit the house better. The master closet is still a great size and the ensuite just seems larger than option A.

But you have to know by now that we didn’t make it thaaaaat easy on KRN Residential Design. We still had a couple minor tweaks. Obviously.

final second floor tweaks

  • Centered the windows in the master bedroom and a tray ceiling. There are now two side windows with 3 small transom windows over the bed. I took inspiration from this photo:
  • Added 6″ on both sides of the bonus room, allowing us to create a 4’6″ wide stairway instead of 3’6″, as per the recommendation from KRN Residential Design.
  • Moved the washer and dryer to one side, creating a larger counter space on one end of the closet (instead of being split between the two sides).

And that’s it! We feel comfortable with these decisions, and are ready to move forward. Onto the electrical plan!

Do you like Houzz or Pinterest? What do you think of a tray ceiling? Do you agree with our decision?
