Kitchen Planning

     June 3, 2014 0 Comments

When you go with a home builder, you buy the house plan  and select the package you’d like for flooring, cabinetry and lighting. We are planning to have the house built to lock-up by a homebuilder and then act as the managers ourselves to finish everything else. Since we will be hiring our own contractors for the inside of the home, we’ve started meeting with some of the companies we’d be interested in working with to collect quotes and determine if there is potential for trade.

We met with a wonderful locally owned kitchen cabinetry company. We can’t say who, yet, but let me tell you – they were a pleasure to deal with. We sent them our floor plan and they got back to us immediately with a quote for the whole house. They quoted us for not only the kitchen, but for the fireplace bookcases, the foyer bench and all of the bathroom vanities. We went down to their showroom to look at samples of their work and the different cabinet options. If we go with them, we’ll have our work cut out with selecting a cabinet front… they have dozens to choose from!

I’ve been picturing a white kitchen with a coloured island. Perhaps a deep navy, or light robin’s egg blue. What do you think? These are the pictures I’ve been liking on Pinterest. If you’re not following my page, you should!

If you’ve recently renovated your kitchen and want to show it off, e-mail me at tradebuilt@tradebank.ca. I would love to come see your kitchen, snap some pictures and tell your story. I’d love to feature your custom renovation on this blog!

Have you been renovating lately? Would you like a coloured island, or neutral kitchen? Light or dark cabinetry? Two-tone? Wood? Painted? Yikes. So many options!
